Why bread matters

Real bread matters. A large proportion of calories consumed in the UK are from bread, it’s a staple food in most households. However, where real bread is simply made from flour, water, salt and yeast, much of the bread we buy in supermarkets is highly processed and has a staggeringly long lists of ingredients, unrecognizable to most of us. Over the years, the industrialization of bread has led us to undervalue this staple food, while the diet industry tells us it’s unhealthy and something we need to cut out. Bread has suffered a PR nightmare.

This course will set the record straight. By baking your own bread, you can know exactly what’s in it, choose the most nourishing ingredients from the best producers, all while saving money!
